Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026
RM Index collects as little as possible: no cookies, no accounts, anonymous statistics, and only what you choose to send through the contact form.
Who is responsible
RM Index is run from Switzerland. The controller for the processing described here is:
RM Index
Switzerland
Contact: through the contact form.
This policy is written to meet the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR with the Data Protection Act 2018.
In short
- No cookies, no advertising, no tracking across sites, and no account.
- Visit statistics are anonymous and aggregated.
- We only receive personal data if you send it through the contact form.
- Your watch case and recently viewed watches stay on your own device.
- We never sell or rent personal data.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (United States). To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Vercel processes technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser type and referring page. These logs are kept only for a short period for security and are not used to identify you.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR / UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); nFADP Art. 31).
Visit statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure loading speed. They set no cookies, store nothing on your device, and do not build a profile: visits are counted with an anonymous identifier that changes every day, and we only see totals (pages, countries, devices, referring sites). We also count clicks on links to dealer websites, without any personal data, so we can tell dealers how many visitors we send them.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (GDPR / UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Contact form
When you write to us, the form sends your name, email address, the subject, your message and any optional details you add (company, reference, listing URL) to Formspree Inc. (United States), which delivers it to our inbox. We use it only to answer you and, for dealers, to discuss a listing.
We keep messages for as long as needed to handle your request, and at most 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law. Legal basis: steps at your request and our legitimate interest in answering (GDPR / UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
Data stored on your device
Your watch case, the watches you recently viewed and the last list you browsed are stored in your browser (local and session storage) so the site can show them back to you. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings; emptying the watch case on the case page also removes it.
Transfers abroad
Vercel and Formspree are based in the United States. Transfers rely on the Swiss–US and EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the UK Extension where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and recognised by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Links and images from other sites
Watch pages link to dealers, auction houses, the press and richardmille.com. When you follow a link, the other site's own privacy policy applies. Dealer links carry tags (utm_source=rmindex) so dealers can see the visit came from us; these contain no personal data. All images and fonts on RM Index are served from our own domain.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Send requests through the contact form; we reply within 30 days.
You can also complain to a supervisory authority:
- Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), edoeb.admin.ch
- EU: the data protection authority of your country of residence
- United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk
Children
RM Index is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We update this policy when the site changes, for example before adding a newsletter. The date at the top shows the latest version. See also the legal notice.
